SUNY PROJECTS MUST BE RESPONSIBLE!

shame on

JUPITER ENVIRONMENTAL

For not CHOOSING TO HIRE LABORERS’ LOCAL 17 FOR MOHONK HALL AT SUNY NEW PALTZ

TELL NY OFFICIALS TO DO THE RIGHT THING!

What’s happening here?

JUPITER ENVIRONMENTAL does not have a collective bargaining agreement with Laborers’ Local 17. Instead, they will be using out-of-area workers for their upcoming asbestos and demolition project at the Mohonk Hall, SUNY New Paltz.

These out-of-area workers do not contribute to the local economy and do not pay school taxes or property taxes.  In fact, they take any earned prevailing wage dollars straight back to other regions and away from the local community.

You can support this cause and the local community by adding your name below concerning the use of NON-UNION LABOR!

Meet The contractor:

Jupiter Environmental Services, Inc.

  • Jupiter Environmental Services, Inc. is a non-union company that provides asbestos abatement, demolition, insulation, and lead paint abatement (NY state). They provide these services to homeowners, commercial and industrial businesses, public and private schools, government agencies, property management firms, developers and insurance companies.

The following photos capture an ongoing rally that began in mid-April, 2024, at SUNY New Paltz.

The local community and SUNY student body have addressed their concerns with a certain non-union construction company, Jupiter Environmental, because they do not have a collective bargaining agreement with the area's local union workforce - LIUNA Laborers' Local 17.

Our Coalition

We represent the thousands of union construction laborers who are being threatened by this unfortunate industry shift. Many companies that bid this work care nothing for the local workforce and local economic prosperity.

why You Should Care

When asbestos remediation projects like Mohonk Hall choose a contractor like Jupiter Environmental, it creates a domino effect in the industry, a race straight to the bottom. Too often, companies like this will leave the local economy in the dust and slight the local workforce!

what You Can Do

By signing the petition below and sharing this story on social media, you are standing shoulder to shoulder with every working-class member of the New York State construction industry who has had enough! It’s time to tell big companies that they cannot do whatever they want without consulting its local workers first!
